Vandalism at the Sport Court and ATV Complaints

Council is very disappointed with an occurrence at the sport court last week-end.  Someone accessed the court with a motorized vehicle (small enough to fit through the gate) and scratched the surface by doing burnouts.  This is considered willful destruction of public property and if anyone who may have information regarding this act of vandalism, we ask you to please contact the RCMP and report.  We had planned on having the sports court open and available for use at all times but we may have to consider locking the gates after a certain time.

Also, many residents have expressed concerns regarding the number of young children driving motorized vehicles.  A reminder to parents that it is illegal to operate a motorized vehicle without a driver’s license and that you as parents may be charged.

Please help us keep our community safe!

Sincerely,

Council of Shields
