URGENT VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED FOR THE VILLAGE EMO TEAM - EMO COORDINATOR AND BLOCK CAPTAINS
The village EMO committee plays an important role in keeping the village safe, they ensure that the emergency plan is reviewed regularly and updated, as necessary. As part of the review of the plan, the Committee completes tests throughout the year. The Resort Village of Shields puts a high priority on the safety of residents, which is why it is so crucial to have an effective EMO team.
The Resort Village of Shields would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Deb Heidt who has spent more than 15 years volunteering her time as the EMO coordinator. Deb was instrumental in developing the EMO Plan for the village in 2021.
We are currently recruiting an EMO Coordinator to replace Deb.
The EMO Coordinator volunteer position involves:
- Regular updates to the Shields EMO plan
- Collecting and keeping information in case of emergency
- Sending monthly EMO test messages
- Quarterly Testing to Sask Alerts
- Advisor/ coordinator to the Village during emergency situations
- More specific duties can be seen in the attached document
We are also looking for volunteers for block captain positions; block captains usually reside on the block that they manage.
Block Captain volunteer position involves:
- Virtual response to monthly test messages
- Staying up to date on new residents living on block
- Additional duties as assigned by Emo Coordinator in the case of an emergency
