SaskAlert is the Government of Saskatchewan’s emergency public alerting program that provides critical information on emergencies in real time, so you can take action to protect yourself, your family and your property.
The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency is encouraging people to download the SaskAlert App from the App Store or Google Play so they can receive critical COVID-19 information in a timely manner. The app also allows people to choose how and when to hear the emergency alerts. They note “The more people that have the app, the more efficient we can be with targeting people in a specific area, including your jurisdiction, that might require emergency information.”
WHY YOU SHOULD DOWNLOAD THE SASKALERT APP
An emergency alert issued through SaskAlert will:
- let you know what the emergency is
- let you know where it is happening
- provide instructions for you to follow to stay safe; and
- advise you when the incident is over
The Village of Shields is a member of SaskAlert and would use the alerting system in accordance with the rules of the public alerting program and the defined set of emergencies that the program is used for.
