Road Closure, Drones, Golf Cart Use

Please see the notices below:

DRONE USE

There has been lots of discussion in the community regarding drone use, as someone has been reported to have been using a drone to look into other people’s yards and homes. Please see the federal regulations about flying a drone safely and legally in Canada. https://tc.canada.ca/en/aviation/drone-safety/learn-rules-you-fly-your-drone/flying-your-drone-safely-legally#legal

Drone laws are regulated by transport Canada – Drones over 250g must be registered, and people flying them must have a valid license to do so. Additionally, drones must be kept 30m from bystanders, and 5km away from any airports. If any of these regulations have been broken we encourage you to report the drone incident here: https://tc.canada.ca/en/aviation/drone-safety/report-drone-incident

A report has been filed with the RCMP, and I spoke with an officer today regarding the incident last night – while the RCMP does not regulate drone flight, they govern other criminal laws that can be broken while using drones. If you have concerns about laws being broken, we encourage you to file a report with the RCMP.

ROAD CLOSURE:

Subterra is currently working on the LPSS lines in the Hordern/Procter Drive area. The section of road in the map below will be closed in the short term for construction. Please use an alternate route.

GOLF CART REGULATIONS:

We have also had reports of unsafe golf cart use and activity in the village. Please review the attached golf cart bylaw and remember the following rules:

  • Golf carts are only to be operated during daylight hours
  • You must hold a valid drivers license to operate a golf cart

If someone is driving a golf cart in an illegal or unsafe way, please call the RCMP to report the incident.
