Please be advised that Blackstrap Provincial Park will be implementing a prescribed burn within the park boundary, the week of October 20-24, 2025. The burn will encompass an area of 20.0 ha in the south portion of the park, NE11-Twp32-R4-W3 (see included map). The objectives of the prescribed burn are to reduce plant litter cover of native and invasive grasses, to reduce potential occurrence of wildfire; and promote increased species diversity of seeded native grassland.
Please note that smoke may be visible by residents in the area, during the duration of the burning, however the burn will only be conducted when there are winds 20kph of less, and preferably from a western direction.
Any questions regarding the burn can be directed to the park office at 306-492-5676 or Dale Gross, Park Grasslands Ecologist at 306-550-5547.
