On October 5th, 2025, Councilor Vanessa Bomboir provided notice of her withdrawal from council effective immediately. Shields council and staff want to wish her all the best and thank her for her contribution to the council throughout 2024 and 2025.
At the November 19th council meeting the following resolution was made:

That the Resort Village of Shields set the date of the upcoming by-election to be February 28th, 2026, to give administration sufficient time to complete all required election tasks. Carried
